Nautical Gifts

Sadly for most, this is the time of the year when the water is just a memory and we all become landlocked for the next few of months.
The season has changed and we are trading our swimsuits, flip flops and tanning lotion for Winter gear. The docks are transformed into skeletons, and become lonely in contrast to the Summer months when they are adorned with ropes, chairs and laughter; longing for the boats that cling to their sides.
The boating season is over, but the water never leaves our hearts.

While it may have changed from glistening sunlit days to gray solid ice, in our dreams it is still the lapping of the waves that we want to remember.
Some are so passionate about the water, that they fill their home with the objects that remind them of the time in Spring when the boat is set free upon the water once again.

We sit down to write a note or wish someone a birthday cheer, so we need a card.

Mary McNamara, who has a connection to the water with her 30+ years sailing, creates beautiful images of seaside dreams, beach houses, and boats at sea. Her home in the Great Lakes region is perfect for her inspirational greeting cards.

Along with the card, you want to send a treasure for that special loved one, that can add a smile to their heart. Maybe a simple necklace to compliment any outfit; deciding last minute that the gift is better for your collection.

How about decorating the walls in the home or office to remind you of the water. A photograph of the waves, sunset, or gulls can add drama to any room.

And never forget the outdoors. Why not add a touch of seaside appeal to the landscape without all the work. One such idea is a wooden boat for filling with plants in the Summer and Fall, or Christmas packages in the Winter.

This boat would also make a great centerpiece inside, or decoration for a corner of a sunny room. The possibilities are endless.

Sometimes, just a splash of color and a hint of nature can transform an entire room. Maybe there is a cozy sofa or favorite window nook that needs a new look. These pillow covers can easily update the area, and keep the decorating costs down. And this shop offers custom orders with many wonderful colors and patterns.

Some of these wonderful items would even work for your home on the water. The place where the heart and mind escapes to on those wonderful weekend getaways. Most would make great gifts for the boat lover in your life.

Some of you may still be playing in the water, or living in a warmer climate where you never lift the boat from the icy waters. If this is the case, you can find all you boating needs at Boat Geek
